A Little About Our Birds
We raise our chickens to achieve the highest standards of excellence and strive to improve the breed with each generation.
Our birds reside in a coop measuring 8’x 10’, equipped with roosts and nesting boxes. We have installed a chicken door that allows the chickens to move freely in and out during the day as they roam across our 8 acres. At night, we secure the chicken door to prevent any predators from entering and harming our birds.
When we select the birds for breeding, we transfer them to 2’x 8’ breeding boxes during late fall and winter. These breeding boxes are ideal for bantams, accommodating up to 6 birds per pen. The breeder pens are located at the bottom of our barn, where the environment remains pleasantly cool.
We provide purebred chicks during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Typically, we do not sell a significant number of chicks in the summer, as all our birds are removed from the breeding pens in late spring to allow them to free range throughout the summer.
Occasionally, we conduct DNA testing on our chicks to confirm their sex before selling them to customers. It is important to note that DNA sexed chicks are priced higher than our straight run chicks, which are not sexed.
We often take a variety of our birds as part of our mobile petting zoo.
